Penfolds Grange vineyard up for sale

The Australian vineyard, at the northern end of McLaren Vale, has supplied fruit for some of Australia’s most lauded wines, including Penfolds Grange and Eileen Hardy Shiraz.

Clarendon was established in the 1970s by building tycoon Alan Hickinbotham and includes 186ha of land, of which 83ha are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Grenache, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier.

The property also includes a ‘boutique’ winery and two houses – a stone mansion known as The White House and designed by architect Rob Cheesman, and the underground Earth Shelter House created by German architect Gerhard Schurer.

Expressions of interest for the property are due to close on 7 December.
